Pre-order now at Amazon

An English translation is now on the way and you can already pre-order it at Amazon. Only Springer knows why the book has become so outrageously expensive.

The German text has been translated into English using AI, and I finished proofreading it last week. This was quite a challenge, as AI has a rather unusual way of translating: many words are translated literally, without taking the context into account. The result is utter nonsense. Also, German sentence structure is simply not the same as English.

So that was a lot of work. It was particularly bizarre translating the so-called Alt Text. This is text that is read aloud to a person with impaired vision when they are reading the book on, say, a laptop and then move the cursor over an image. Now, not many visually impaired people will buy my book, but the description still has to be accurate.

I'd love to show some screen shots of the failures here but there seems to be a technical problem that makes uploading pictures impossible. Hopefully later.

Here's a copy of a great example. The following quote is what AI made of a picture of a leg being treated with a Circuplode ®.

A sketch depicting a mechanical process where a viscous material is being extruded from a nozzle onto a platform. The material forms a series of vertical, wavy lines as it is deposited, suggesting a layering or 3 D printing technique. The platform is supported by a structure with legs, indicating stability and support for the process.

Yep, a viscous material ... a nozzle ... 3D printing ...

The corrected version:
A sketch depicting the flow of energy in an electromagnetic field. Dark spots show where most energy is delivered:
above the knee joint, in front of the ankle and under the foot.

And that's only one example ...

Rest assured, they're all corrected.
